Airport fast track helps families arriving in Bali by assigning one greeter to the whole group from the aircraft door onward, so that arrival paperwork, queue selection, trolleys and luggage are handled by an adult who is not simultaneously carrying a toddler, pushing a stroller and holding five passports. That is the entire value of the service for parents: it adds a spare pair of hands and a person who already knows the building.
We are an independent airport assistance company working at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. We are not an airline, an airport operator or a government agency, and we have no authority over immigration or customs decisions. What follows describes how the service works in practice for families, and what it honestly cannot do.
Why is arriving in Bali harder with children than without?
International arrivals at DPS pass through passport control before they reach the baggage belts, which means a family walks the connecting corridor and joins a queue while still carrying every piece of hand luggage, because trolleys sit on the other side of immigration. Adults travelling alone absorb that easily. A family of five with a stroller, two backpacks, a nappy bag and a child who has just woken up after a long-haul flight does not.
The other pressure is timing. Bali runs on WITA, UTC+8, and a large share of long-haul flights land either very early in the morning or late at night. Children arrive tired, hungry or disoriented, and any queue feels twice as long. Nothing about the airport is unusually difficult. It is simply the wrong environment in which to be short-staffed as a parent.
What does family fast track actually cover at DPS?
A family booking is staffed against one flight number and one arrival date, so the greeter is scheduled to your specific aircraft rather than waiting generically in the terminal. From that point the coverage is practical rather than ceremonial.
- A named greeter meeting the group as passengers come off the aircraft, holding a name board so you are not searching for anyone.
- Guidance to the correct queue for your document type on the first attempt, rather than joining a line and discovering it was the wrong one.
- Help completing arrival paperwork while you keep hold of your children.
- Porter and trolley support at the baggage belts, including oversized items such as car seats, travel cots and surfboards.
- Escort through the customs checkpoint and out to the arrivals hall.
- Handover to your driver at an agreed meeting point, so nobody has to search a crowded forecourt with children in tow.
Everything above is booked in advance. Details of what is included at each service level are set out on our family fast track bali airport page, and larger parties travelling together are usually better served by the group fast track bali airport arrangement, which allocates more than one assistant.
Which families benefit the most from booking assistance?
The pattern we see is consistent: the benefit rises sharply as the ratio of children to available adult hands gets worse. A couple with one calm eight-year-old rarely needs help. The situations below are where the service changes the arrival completely.
| Family situation | Typical pressure point | What the assistant takes over |
|---|---|---|
| Infant in arms, no spare adult | Documents and baby cannot be held at once | Paperwork, hand luggage, queue navigation |
| Single parent with two or more children | Nobody can leave the queue to collect a trolley | Trolley, bags, keeping the group together |
| Late-night or dawn arrival | Overtired children, slow decision-making | Routing, so no wrong turns are made |
| Three generations travelling together | Grandparents and children move at different speeds | Pacing the group, splitting tasks |
| Heavy or bulky baby equipment | Stroller and car seat arrive separately from suitcases | Oversized baggage collection and portering |
| Onward domestic connection | Terminal change under time pressure | Direct routing to the domestic check-in area |
What fast track cannot do for your family
Immigration officers control every entry decision at DPS, and no private company can promise a clearance time, a lane, or an outcome. Any provider who guarantees a fixed number of minutes is describing something they do not control. Our assistants remove wasted movement and wrong queues, which is a real saving, but the checks themselves belong entirely to the authorities.
Entry documents are equally outside our hands. Requirements differ by nationality and change from time to time, including online arrival declarations and electronic visa options. Confirm what your family needs through official Indonesian government channels or your nearest Indonesian mission before you fly, and treat this page as general information rather than immigration advice. We never hold passports for processing and we never advise anyone to travel on incomplete documents.
How should parents prepare for the arrivals hall?
Customs is the final checkpoint before the public arrivals hall at DPS, so the last thing a tired family does is walk past a control point with all their bags reassembled. Preparing for that sequence in advance makes the whole arrival calmer.
- Put every passport and arrival document in one pouch carried by one designated adult. Splitting them between two parents creates delay at exactly the wrong moment.
- Gate-check the stroller if your airline allows it, and tell us in advance so the greeter knows to look for it.
- Keep a small snack and a water bottle accessible after landing rather than buried in a suitcase.
- Agree in advance which adult carries which child if the group has to walk a long corridor.
- Send us your flight number, arrival date, number of adults and the ages of the children when you enquire, because staffing is calculated from exactly those four things.
Frequently asked questions
At what age do children still count in a fast track booking?
Every traveller crossing the border needs their own document check, so infants and young children are counted when we plan staffing even where a service level charges for them differently. Tell us the ages when you enquire and the quote will reflect it in writing. We do not apply an age rule silently after booking, because the number of children directly determines how many assistants your family actually needs.
Can the greeter meet us at the aircraft door with a baby?
Meeting points depend on the aircraft, the stand it parks at and airport procedure on the day, so the agreed point is confirmed in your booking rather than promised generically. For families with infants we plan the earliest permitted meeting point available for that arrival. If anything changes on the day, the greeter contacts the phone number in your booking rather than leaving you to search.
Does fast track include a car seat for our transfer?
Airport assistance and ground transport are separate bookings, and child seats are arranged with the vehicle rather than with the greeter. If you want both handled together, request the transfer at the same time as the arrival service and specify the age and weight of each child. That way the correct seat is fitted before the car reaches the airport instead of being improvised at the kerb.
What happens if our flight lands very late at night?
Late arrivals are staffed the same way as daytime ones, since assistants are scheduled against your flight number rather than against office hours. Flight delays are tracked, so a greeter does not disappear because the aircraft was two hours behind schedule. Tell us the scheduled arrival time when booking and confirm the flight number, because that single detail is what keeps the allocation attached to your family.
